Professor Tang Yonghong (PhD in Economics) is Deputy Director and Professor of the Centre for Taiwan Studies at Xiamen University (Key Research Base for Humanities and Social Sciences, Ministry of Education).

Since Tsai Ing-wen was elected leader of Taiwan in 2016, the situation in the Taiwan Strait has become increasingly tense. This is closely related to cross-strait relations, Taiwan's attitude towards China and the rest of the world. This talk will focus on the main changes in the current situation in the Taiwan region, the main reasons for the changes, and the main impact of the changes on cross-strait relations, to provide a comprehensive insight into the current situation and prospects of the Taiwan region and cross-strait relations.
